Here’s how gel plate image transfers actually work. The toner in a laser print resists the acrylic paint, so the paint stays on the gel plate where the toner is. Anywhere there’s no toner, the paint gets absorbed into the photo paper. Then when you cover the whole thing with a final layer of paint and let it dry completely, it adheres to the paper and pulls the image off the plate in one clean release.
