This batch is 10 pounds of masa preparada and it makes about 35 to 40 tamales. Even though it’s “prepared,” I ALWAYS add 1 cup of lard (manteca) and a little salt. You can also add 1 cup of cooked rice. Mix everything very, very well because you never want bland or dry tamales and the fat and salt help so much.
