Once the tear has been pressed flat and the faint and canvas fibers stabilized a conservation adhesive is spread on the canvas (both on the face and verso) and strands of Belgian linen are laid across the tear. When complete a piece of silicone release film, felt and weight are placed atop the mended tear. When dry the tear will be stable and secure and ready for in-fill and retouching.
