False dichotomies and how people use this logical fallacy to justify their mistreatment of animals. To be honest, I find this one especially triggering because it is consistently a logical fallacy that I see applied by people who are behaving abusively. I’ve been in a number of emotionally abusive relationships in the past and every single time one of my partners needed to justify mistreating me, they would create a false dichotomy to justify their own behaviour and flip the blame onto me. False dichotomies are by design, don’t fall into the trap set by clever marketing firms. You are allowed to be hesitant to put substances in you and your children’s bodies. You are allowed to fully understand the potential risks, and you are allowed to demand enough information to make an informed choice one way or the other.
